Upgrading Symantec Anti Virus Reporting Server Component to the Latest Version

To fix the SAV Reporting Server component issue you may need to keep it updated to the latest version.

Issue: SAV Reporting Console results in blank page.

Investigation and Fix:

After enabling debug logging, you find that SAV Reporting Server failing to connect to its DB with log#1 message.

The logs uploaded by reporting agents start queuing on server. After some troubleshooting, the error transform into second error given in log#2 for which Symantec has no fix but to upgrade application to the latest version.

However, the Reporting Server installer keeps on hanging forever (with log statement given in log#3) in all the attempts of repair install, remove install and upgrade install as well.

At this point, you can concluded that SAV Reporting Server application got corrupted and needs to be setup afresh. So, with the help of support you need to get all traces of SAV ‘Reporting Server’ as well as ‘Reporting Agent’ removed, reboot the server, and install them afresh.

After fresh install the default Reporting Server, admin account login may fail and even attempt to directly edit password in DB don’t work. You can manage to login to the Reporting Server using our another admin account named ‘root’ and then set new application password to ‘admin’ as well ‘root’ admin accounts. SAV Reporting Console then start working fine.
