Tips to manage taskbar Windows

It’s very often the case that many users (especially Windows Admins) requires multiple applications to be running yet don’t want to actively monitor them in taskbar.  Many users opt for grouping taskbar Windows to workaround that problem, however there will be atleast one window lying on the taskbar representing the grouped application windows. As many of you know that some applications comes with an option called “Minimize to tray (or) Hide when minimized” which simply avoid Window on the taskbar and yet keeps application running and provides easy option to activate the Windows whenever needed.  Here are the few applications and steps to enable this setting:

  1. Microsoft Outlook -> Right click on systray icon -> click “Hide When Minimized”
  2. Process explorer -> Options Menu -> click “Hide When Minimized”
  3. Notepad2 -> Settings menu -> click “Minimize To Tray” and save settings
  4. Google talk -> when you click on exit button (x) on gtalk Window it automatically hides in tray
  5. PowerCMD -> Preferences -> “Minimize on close button (X)” and click File -> “Minimize to Tray”
  6. JDownloader -> Upon clicking exit button you’ll get a prompt -> “JDownloader will be minimized to tray” you need to exit it from tray if needed.
  7. Royal TS -> Upon clicking minimize button it auto hides in Tray
