Best Practices Using External USB Media

Data copying to external media

Parallel processing copying tools can cause the disk/data damage specifically when operating on USB media. Because USB (Universal Serial Bus) protocol work in serial communication mode which can’t render the IO operations at the intense rate of parallel processing copying tools. many cases, such an attempt can slow down the external media/disk performance and/or cause functional failures due to rapid IO operations.

Always using a serial data copy tools can enrich the performance of your external disk and also offers copied data reliability. I personally use SolidCopy tool for any external data copy operations, the tools also have good options to configure and control copy process along with rich logging.

Many times we come across various disk related errors on PCs, and most famous among them is “Windows Delayed Write Failed”.  The very primary cause for this condition is the abrupt disconnection of disk while some disk operation is in-use or low disk space, etc,.

Whenever you need to copy use a controllable copy method which supports pause and resume Options.  So that you don’t have to use Windows built-in copy operation which can infamous cause the delayed write failure errors/related issues if disk becomes unavailable for any reason and it can cause the partition corruption if any of the handles to partition table gets corrupted due to abrupt disconnect/glitches.
