To meet the academic aspiration of the working engineers, the University has established the School of Continuing and Distance Education in 1983 and is headed by a Director. Presently Dr.M.Chandra Shekhar, Professor of Physics is holding the post of Director of SCDE.Under this umbrella, the University has launched aninno vative programme, called as B.Tech Correspondencecum Contact(CCC) programme adopting the Distance Education mode for the first time in the country, translating into reality the recommendations of the Kothari Commission for introducing correspondence education in the Science and Technology. At the National level, technical education is of two-tier pattern Diploma and Degree levels.
The facility of B.Tech (CCC) programme of the degree level meets the crucial need of both industry and the individual. In tune with the emerging trends in educational planning, the Centre started operating in 1983 on a self- supporting basis and succeeded in optimum utilization of available resources of the University in terms of buildings, laboratories, equipment and faculty available at our constituent colleges and affiliated colleges which serve as contact centers
The University is recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi

Admission to this 4 year B.Tech. (CCC) programme is made on the basis of merit ranks obtained at the Entrance test conducted by the University subject to rules of reservation in force. The candidate seeking admission under Distance Education Mode into this B.Tech. (CCC) Programme should be Diploma holder in the branch of Engineering concerned, and should be working in the jurisdiction of the university.
