Citrix XenApp 6, is purposely built expressly for the Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 platform. Migration to XenApp 6 is necessary and mixed farms/in-place upgrades from previous versions are not supported. Apart from major enhances, it also includes some of the fixes listed here.  

XenApp 6 includes not only a purpose-built version based on Windows Server 2008 R2, but also new components and features. Many of the new components and features also support Windows Server 2008 R2. Performance improvements for XenApp 6 include 15% or more users per server.
