IE9 fails to launch Citrix Applications though 100% of launch.ica is downloaded
Issue: This has been an issue with the XenApp applications when launched from IE9 with any version of Citrix Online Plug-in older than 12.1.44 version.
Issue behavior: IE9 used to stuck up after 100% download of the file as it fails to launch the ica file.
Workaround: A manual workaround is to trigger the fully downloaded ica file from the IE9 cache.
Fix: Citrix now released a newer version of Citrix Online Plug-in that is 12.1.44 in which this issue has been addressed.
From Citrix KB CTX129082: Application Launch Fails after Upgrading to Internet Explorer 9:
Symptoms
After upgrading to Internet Explorer 9, users are unable to launch applications once authenticated into Web Interface. They are given a prompt to open launch.ica but the application launch never completes.
If the option to save the file is selected, it is created with a temporary name with a “.partial” extension.
Cause
Citrix Technical Support is currently investigating the root cause of this issue; however, it appears to be caused by tightening of the file download behavior in Internet Explorer 9.
Resolution
A fix is available with a special release of the following 12.1.44 version of the Citrix Online Plug-in.
