Summary
This article describes how the ICA listener and IP address registration in the Data Store works in XenApp 6.
Requirements
To detect how the ICA listener works and how it relates to the IMA service, you must have XenApp 6 in Windows 2008 Server R2 with more than one network adapter configured.
Discussion
In previous versions of XenApp, by default, you can have a different IP address configured in the ICA listener than the IP address registered in the Data store. With XenApp 6, the IP address in the ICA Listener configuration is directly related to the IP address registration in the Data Store
In XenApp 6, by default, the All network adapters configured with this protocol option is set the same as in the ICA listener configuration.
With XenApp 6, when you start a machine, all network IP addresses assigned to the ICA listener are registered in LocalHostCache and replicated to the Data Store.
- Get the IP information using the Ipconfig command:
- Check the IP registration in the Data Store by running the Qfarm command:
In this case, there is only one Network Card and one IP address assigned to this network Card.
- Now, add a second network card to the server and configure an IP address.
- Restart the IMA service, and then run the Qfarm command to see two IP addresses registered in the data base.
- You can see that the Binding order is not affected. In previous versions, the registration order in Data Store defined how the protocol and network Binding ordered the network cards.
- In the ICA listener configuration Tool, you must select only one network Card in Listeners.
- Restart the IMA service, and then run the Qfarm command to see that the IP address registration in the Data Store has been modified by assigning only the IP address defined in Citrix Ethernet Adapter #2.
- If you have more than one IP address assigned to the same network card, all IP addresses are registered.
