Symptoms
The Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Edition appliance displays that the database size is too big.
Cause
The data in the database of the Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Edition appliance contains the Farm configuration and session information. When you use the appliance for a long period of time without any database maintenance or restarting the appliance, the database size might grow to a size even more than 1 GB. However, when you export the Farm to another Access Gateway Advanced Edition appliance, the size of the database is quite smaller as compared to the same in the original appliance, as shown in the following screenshot:
Resolution
To resolve this issue, you can perform any of the following tasks on the Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Edition appliance:
• Restart the appliance.
• If you are using the SQL Express 2005 database available with the Citrix Access Gateway Advanced Edition, then you can complete the following task:
1. In not already done, then download and install the SQL Management Studio Express from the Microsoft Download Center Web page.
2. On the appliance, expand the Database node.
3. Right-click the database name.
4. Select Properties from the shortcut menu.
5. Activate the Options tab.
6. Verify that Simple is selected in the Recovery model list, as shown in the following screenshot:
7. Click OK.
8. Start the Citrix Access Gateway Server Configuration utility.
9. Stop all services.
10. Start the SQL Management utility.
11. Expand the Databases node.
12. Right-click the required database name.
13. Select Tasks from the shortcut menu.
14. Select Shrink from the Tasks menu.
15. Select Database from the Shrink menu.
16. Click OK.
17. Switch to the Citrix Access Gateway Server Configuration utility.
18. Start all services.
