CTX102371 – Changing the Server and Server Farm’s Domain Membership

Symptom

On a XenApp 6 server running on Windows Server 2008 R2, an Event 1073 might be logged to the server System log, warning that an attempt by a user to restart or shutdown the server failed:

Cause

This issue is caused by the initial configuration of Remote Desktop Services (RDS), formally known as Terminal Services on the Windows 2008 R2 server. Microsoft is aware of the issue and has confirmed that the warning that is logged is benign and can be ignored.

This issue effects both the XenApp Independent Computing Architecture (ICA) Seamless Application sessions and the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) Initial Application sessions.

Resolution

To resolve this issue on an server, complete the following steps:

  1. Log on as an administrator and access the Administrative Tools.
  2. Click Remote Desktop Services.
  3. Click RemoteApp Manager on the server console.
  4. Restart the server.

Note: No further configuration is required other than accessing the RemoteApp Manager and restarting the server.

Microsoft is currently investigating this issue to determine if a code fix is required or the preceding resolution is sufficient to resolve the issue.
