When you install MikTeX 2.8 (LaTeX *.pfm with *.pfb) Type 1 Fonts to use it with Adobe Illustrator on Windows Server 2008 R2, you may notice that fonts not being shown up for all users in Illustrator however other applications show up the new fonts fine.
Below is the procedure to ensure that the fonts are properly installed and available/accessible for all user of the Windows Server 2008 R2 system.
- Install the fonts with an administrator privileges. To install fonts, right click on the *.pfm file and select install (Connected via RDP /admin) (no UAC)
- Verify that Fonts are successfully installing verifying their entries in
- Control PanelAll Control Panel ItemsFonts OR
- C:WindowsFonts
- Launch the Illustrator see if the fonts are listed fine for admin as well as normal users. If not, verify that other applications (say word) are able to show up the new fonts
- If Fonts are not listed by Illustrator, copy the fonts from C:WindowsFonts to "C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAdobeFonts"
- Launch the Illustrator and verify that new fonts are shown up fine.
