XenApp 6 includes not only a purpose-built version based on Windows Server 2008 R2, but also new components and features. Many of the new components and features also support Windows Server 2008 R2.
Performance improvements for XenApp 6 include 15% or more users per server. Fully streamlined installation and a unified management console are two new features that administrators will appreciate, as well as:
- HDX RealTime for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 and softphone support, as well as CD quality audio
- HDX MediaStream for Flash with server-side media content fetching
- Enhanced color and monitor support, including DirectX/Direct3D hardware acceleration/32-bit graphics and improved multi-monitor functionality
- Windows 7 smart card support
Please note that the Citrix Online plug-in 12.0 is required for the full array of HDX functionality.
