Instructions for Downloading 64-bit Java on Windows – Internet Explorer
- Click on the Free Java Download button to start the download.
- The File Download dialog box appears prompting you to save the download file
Choose the folder location and save the file to your local system.
Tip: Save the file to a known location on your computer, for example, to your desktop. - Close all applications including the browser.
- Double-click on the saved file to start the installation process.
- The installation process starts. The installer presents an option to view the License Agreement.
If you’d like to change the installation directory, select the ‘Change destination folder’ option.
After reading the agreement, click the Accept button to accept its terms and to continue with the installation.
If you selected the option to change where Java is installed, choose the folder location then click the Next button to continue with the installation. - Sun Microsystems has partnered with companies that offer various products. The installer may present you with option to install these programs when you install Java. Make your selections by clicking on the check box next to programs that interest you, and click on Next to continue the installation.
- A few brief dialogs confirm the last steps of the installation process; click Finish on the last dialog.
NOTE: You may need to restart (close and re-open) your browser to enable the Java installation.
