Fire Drill Safety Rules

Whenever a fire breaks out, it’s vital to get as far away from it as possible. Being surrounded by fire could not only cause burns on the skin but there’s a strong possibility that you’ll breathe in smoke and soot which can also have detrimental effects. It’s wise to prepare for a fire and plan some sort of fire escape route so that if a fire does occur, you know how to get away from it. Finding all exits and even labeling them is a great way to maximize your chances of getting to safety. To find out how to label exits correctly, read on here!

If you somehow find out that someone is in danger and their life could be at risk, waiting for the paramedics to arrive might not be the first thing on your mind (even though it is the recommended move). In such scenarios, having GWO basic fire awareness safety training (find out more about GWO courses), could come in very handy. Qualified trainers from HFR Solutions and similar organizations could help you get the right GWO training.

Here are some more tips to follow if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to flee from a fire.

Personal Safety first:

  1. Close your mouth and nose by a wet cotton scarf
  2. Don’t run instead crawl to move
  3. Cover face (eyes), fall down, roll four sides to put off fire you caught
  4. Put thick blanket and roll the person caught by fire
  5. Use hand joints to lift others (two hand, three hand and four hand)
  6. Use piggybacking to carry others
  7. In case of poisionus gas,
    1. close your mouth & nose with wet cotton scarf
    2. move out of the poisionus gas area
  8. In case of public places,
    1. respond to the emergency alarm and evacuvate the place and reach the safety zone
    2. use “Manual Call Point” to notify emergency to all
    3. know fire exits and fire extinguishers locations
    4. if you know operating, start the fire extinguisher

Calling Emergency services:

  1. Call your fire brigade (fire engine) on #101
  2. Call EMRI (#108) from any coin box
  3. Make clear way to fire engine and ambulances

House safety:

  1. In case of cylinder caught leaking/fire,
    1. don’t panic
    2. if lid gets lost, close the cylinder with safety lid
    3. keep cylinder straight,
    4. do not let cylinder to fall down as LPG will come out with high pressure
    5. don’t touch any electrical access points (for both switching OFF/ON)
    6. if it’s leak, keep the door open to let the gas spread out
    7. if it’s got fire, close the doors so that your are extinguishing the fire
  2. In case, if a person caught the fire,
    1. fall down and roll (so as to stop the fire)
    2. pour water if person got burned
